SpectaculArts Street Arts Festival
The main event focused on a colourful, lively Street Arts Festival and parade in Bedford Park. It displayed a live moving show with actors, musicians, storytelling, audience participation, street and spoken word performers.
The Festival included local businesses vital to the life of Bedford as well as community groups from across the town.
Events for the Street Arts Festival area in Bedford Park were on several different stage sets and included dynamic dance demonstrations, performers, musicians, street food vendors and bands.
SpectaculArts asked the people of Bedford from all cultures, backgrounds and social groups to join in and in turn we, together, created something truly Spectacular!
The SpectaculArts Street Arts Festival is for the 21st Century. The traditional Carnival was a rolling procession; SpectaculArts was a rolling performance that had planned stops in controlled areas allowing the procession to stop and perform through various art forms including dance, theatre, music and art. This allowed the audience to really engage with the performers and the Festival rather than just to spectate. To help facilitate audience engagement, the Bedford Ambassadors generated an atmosphere and actively encouraged audience participation.
SpectaculArts consisted of groups, companies and organisations that were walking, or on floats. The route was planned around the town centre and culminated in Bedford Park. The Festival consisted of local business and organisations, which are partnered with the SpectaculArts Foundation. This was a free event to the residents of Bedford and will be a biennial event that will happen in different parts of Bedford!
